I am a single parent living in San Francisco, and my son has been my pride and joy since the day he was born. His father passed away when he was only two years old, and he has grown up with the love and support of his family, including his two sisters. My son is now 28, and he’s always worked hard to make the most of every opportunity. Recently, he joined a rugby team here in San Francisco. For the first time, he’s found a brotherhood and sense of belonging that he’s never had before. His team is traveling to Australia for a tournament called the Bingham Cup, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for him to bond with his teammates and experience something truly special.

Both my son and I work—he’s a medical assistant at UCSF, and I’m a case manager for the San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team (SF HOT). Living in the city is expensive, and as much as I wish I could pay for his trip myself, I simply can’t afford it. The funds raised will help cover his round-trip plane ticket, tournament fees, lodging, food, and allow him to experience some sightseeing, like seeing the coral reef. My son has always put others first—he’s worked three jobs at once, is a dedicated uncle, and motivates me every day to work hard and stay healthy. He is compassionate, hardworking, and truly deserving of this opportunity.
