Help Donte Get the Surgery He Desperately Needs

Hi, my name is Juliette, and I’m a single mother of two boys. I’m reaching out because my oldest son, Donte Rutledge, recently suffered a severe boxing injury that fractured his orbital bone and nasal cavity. The fracture is pressing against his eye muscle, preventing him from moving his eye and causing double vision, blurred vision, and constant pain.

Donte needs urgent surgery to repair the damage so he can regain full movement of his eye and prevent permanent vision loss. Unfortunately, the surgery must be paid upfront, and the surgeon is out of network. Despite working two jobs, I simply cannot cover the full cost on my own.

Those who know Donte know that he is more than an athlete. He is a protector, a motivator, and a natural leader. He loves boxing, training others, staying active, and supporting his friends and community. He is the kind of young man who encourages people to be their best, and he is dedicated to growth, discipline, and kindness. Seeing him in this much pain has been heartbreaking.

As his mother, I have done everything I can to keep him comfortable while waiting for surgery, but the pain medication barely helps, and he has hardly been able to sleep. This injury does not just affect his vision; it affects his quality of life and his ability to continue pursuing what he loves most.

I have spent years advocating for survivors of domestic violence, building awareness around healing, resilience, and community support. Today, I find myself needing that same community to help my son heal.
