My sister and her family are facing the very real possibility of homelessness. After a year in Iowa where they were financially stable, they made the difficult decision to move back to San Diego so my niece could start high school in her hometown. Unfortunately, the transition has been much harder than expected. My sister has been working multiple jobs just to try and make rent, while her boyfriend has struggled to find full-time work. His current part-time job ends next month, and so far, he has only been able to find more part-time work. Their financial situation has become critical, and they are at risk of losing their home and having to live out of their car.
I wish I could offer them a place to stay, but I live in a small studio with my boyfriend and our dog, who is now in palliative care. My mom is also working two jobs and lives in a small apartment; my niece would have a place to live, not everyone and their pets. We are doing everything we can, but we simply don't have the resources to help them stay in their apartment.
I'm raising money to help cover their rent and utilities so they can stay safe and together while my sister's boyfriend continues searching for full-time work. Once he finds a stable job, they should be able to get back on their feet. Until then, any support you can give will make a huge difference for my sister's family. Thank you for reading and for any help you can offer. ❤️
