could ever begin to repay, and I just want to help her and my brother in law during this rough patch. My sister's symptoms have forced to stop working so that's income they no longer have.

I've watched my sister and her family fight battles no one should have to face-her MS, my nephew's Tourette's, endless medical bills, and debt from just trying to cover groceries while her husband works himself to exhaustion. They've carried this burden quietly for so long, but it's more than they can handle alone.

After 13 Years Battling MS, Kami is facing Her Hardest Chapter Yet

In 2012, Kami’s world changed when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Despite the news, she stayed strong—working, caring for her family, and doing her best to live as fully as possible.

In 2015, everything shifted. A devastating relapse left her with more than 50 new lesions on her brain. Doctors had no choice but to begin chemotherapy to shut down her immune system. Over the years, her MS developed into moderate white matter disease.

Then, in 2018, Kami was dealt another blow: gluten ataxia. Her immune system began attacking the healthy cells in her brain and spinal cord whenever she consumed gluten. Still, she kept going—tending to her family, working when she could, and refusing to let her diagnosis steal her spirit.

For eight years, monthly infusions kept the disease somewhat under control, but when they stopped working, Kami was switched to a much stronger medication. Unfortunately, her body began reacting badly. After her February treatment, her health quickly declined.

By April, Kami woke up unable to walk without support. Recently, an MS specialist confirmed that this was disease progression—not just another relapse. A hospital stay and steroid treatments brought no improvement. Now, Kami faces the reality that she will never walk independently again. Most days, she requires a wheelchair or rollator just to move around.

Through it all, she has never once complained. But the truth is—she is scared. Scared of losing the mobility she once had, scared of what the future looks like for her and her family.

Kami now needs in-home health care while her husband, Jon, works. He has had to miss many days on the job to care for her, and every day he does, the family falls further behind. To make ends meet, they’ve had to rely on credit cards just to cover basics like groceries and the gas it takes to travel 40 minutes for her doctor visits.

On top of this, the family is left with a staggering $5,000 co-pay from the $90,000 medication that is critical to slowing the progression of her disease—medication that keeps her immune system from attacking her brain and spinal cord.

They are also raising three children, each with their own medical needs.

This family has been through so much. Kami has fought every step of the way with grace and courage, but they can’t do this alone anymore.
