Dear friends, family, and caring hearts,
My name is Sharifah McKay, and I am writing on behalf of my sister, Kate, her husband, Sean, their children, Bella and Cade, and their beloved pets, Chloe and Pippa. The Los Angeles wildfires have left their family in unimaginable devastation, taking everything they owned—their home, their belongings, and the memories they worked so hard to create.
Kate isn’t just my sister; she’s also one of the most talented decorators and stylists I know. For years, she has poured her heart into curating a home that welcomed everyone who entered. Every antique and vintage piece she carefully chose told a story, reflecting her family’s journey and the love they’ve shared. Her home wasn’t just a house—it was an extension of who she is, filled with character, warmth, and history. Now, all of that is gone.
As a professional who works with vintage and antique pieces, Kate’s livelihood has also been profoundly impacted. The collection she had lovingly built for her career—priceless treasures from bygone eras—is gone, making it even harder for her to recover from this loss.
But what’s most heartbreaking is the irreplaceable loss of memories. The family photos, the heirlooms passed down through generations, the little mementos that marked milestones in Bella and Cade’s lives—these are things no amount of money can replace.
We are reaching out to you, hoping that together, we can help Kate and her family begin the long road to recovery. The funds raised will go toward immediate needs like temporary housing, clothing, food, and essential items.
The fires may have taken everything, but they haven’t taken our hope. With your support, I know my sister and her family can make it through this stronger as a family.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for any contribution you can make. Whether it’s donating, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping them in your thoughts, your kindness means more than words can express.
With deepest gratitude,
Sharifah McKay
