Help my sister-in-law Karen, beat Breast cancer.

My name is Wendy Saban, and Karen is married to my brother Wes. I hate that I am writing this, but you never want to hear the words “you have cancer.” Unfortunately, my sister-in-law recently heard those words and had surgery Friday, August 12, 2022. First and foremost, we ask for your prayers that Karen will have a complete recovery and that she and Wes will come through this journey knowing they are loved and that she can beat this. You can never be prepared for the emotional or physical toll it will take but even more than that, how can you prepare for the financial burden it causes? My brother is a contractor; therefore, he gets very few paid sick days and has used those up. Not knowing what Karen’s future treatment will require, we want Wes to be able to be at Karen’s side when she needs it. Bills have already surpassed the $10,000 (USA) mark before her surgery, and living in the United States brings even more challenges regarding health care. In Canada, we are blessed not to pay for health care like they do in the states. They do have health insurance but imagine paying $700+ just for primary care, and unfortunately, it does not cover everything, such as surgery and/or treatment. Karen’s surgery is estimated to cost upwards of $32,000, and that’s just the beginning. They have not received all the bills yet, and we believe $50,000 is just a starting point. If necessary, we may increase the goal as we need to.
