My name is Robin and I am creating this medical campaign for my sister Roxana. Roxana was visiting her daughter in Delaware to help care for her granddaughter that was born prematurely on 11/13/21. Since her granddaughter was born Roxana was commuting every two weeks from New York to Delaware to assist with the care of her granddaughter while working remotely as an IT consultant.
On 1/13/21 as Roxana was caring for her granddaughter, she started complaining that she had a bad headache. As the day progressed and the headache intensified, Roxana decided to sit in the bathtub with the shower running. Shortly after that Roxana's daughter found her unresponsive in the bathtub and called the paramedics.
Roxana was admitted to the intensive care unit at Christiana Hospital in Delaware. Testing showed that Roxana has massive bleeding in her brain and needed brain surgery to stop the bleeding. Roxana was diagnosed with Hemorrhagic Stroke, and is unable to verbally communicate or comprehend her whereabouts. Roxana was released from Christiana Hospital and transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility in Delaware for speech and physical therapy. Roxana's prognosis is at least 6 months to a year of intense therapy.
Roxana was employed through a staffing agency that did not offer medical or disability insurance. I had to submit a request to Roxana's employer to terminate her so she could qualify for Medicaid. Being that this medical emergency transpired in Delaware and my sister lives in New York, she is not eligible for Medicaid. Therefore she is financially responsible for all of her medical treatment.
I am raising money to help with Roxana's medical and living expenses. My sister is unable to verbally communicate or comprehend her whereabouts. She will not be able to work for at least a year. My sister was the only breadwinner in her home, and with no income her house will eventually fall into foreclosure. I am scrambling trying to save her home, get her medical insurance and pay her medical expenses. It's so overwhelming. When Roxana gets discharged from the rehabilitation facility, I don't want to have to tell her she lost her home, her job and has a huge amount of debt because of her medical expenses.
We are living in unprecedented times and so many people are struggling. Even the smallest donations would be appreciated. If you are unable to give monetarily I ask that you please keep my sister in your prayers.
