Help My Sister Shannon Heal
Hi everyone,
Many of you know my sister, Shannon. Right now, she’s facing a serious medical crisis: she has a perforated intestine with multiple tears and abscesses in her colon. She’s been in the hospital since Thursday and is fighting hard to recover.
We’re asking for financial help during this incredibly challenging time. Here’s a little more about her situation:
What’s going on?
Shannon’s doctors are trying to figure out the best treatment plan. The infectious disease doctor wants to put her on pills, but there’s a chance they might not work because they may not reach the infected areas.
The surgical gastroenterologist wants to do surgery to flush her intestines, but this comes with serious risks. She would need a colostomy bag for at least six months, and if her intestines don’t recover, this could become permanent.
There is another option: intravenous (IV) treatment at home. If she can receive daily IV treatments, she has a better chance of healing without surgery. Each day of IV treatment costs about $500, and she will likely need it for at least two months—possibly longer. This doesn’t include other medical expenses that have already added up.
Why we need help
Shannon is already deeply in debt from her hospital stay. She’s a very private person and feels embarrassed to ask for help, but as her sister, I’m reaching out on her behalf. She is my best friend, and I’d be lost without her.
If you’re able to contribute—no matter how big or small—it would make a world of difference for Shannon and give her the chance to heal at home and avoid major surgery.
Thank you so much for your support and love.
