Help My Sister Seek Advanced Cancer Treatment (Tina Rourk)
Donation protected
Hi all. We have decided to seek care and other options for my sister's cancer.
As most of you know, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and started chemo in July. We just had her first scan and found out the cancer is still inoperable by the surgeons in Augusta. We are seeking care elsewhere and have scheduled three appointments so far for additional opinions. Augusta does not have a pancreatic center or specialist. We have appointments at MUSC Charleston, Mayo in Florida, and Atlanta Emory. However, we will go anywhere. We have registered with PanCan Network and are in the process of researching clinical trials. Another option we are considering is a procedure called Nanoknife that is showing promising results by ablative surgery to the tumor. It is FDA approved for prostate cancer but not yet for pancreatic cancer. Therefore, insurance doesn’t cover it. This surgery runs $10,000-12,000.
We are not sure what road we are taking yet but all of this travel will be costly.
If you are able to contribute, please consider. We believe in the power of prayer and your prayers are a gift we treasure mostly.
We love you all & God is so good all the time!
