Hey everyone,
I’m starting this GoFundMe for my beautiful sister Stacy. To know her is to love her, she has the kindest heart and would do absolutely anything for anyone. So this is me trying to help in the only way I can right now.
After already going through so much in her life, at the end of December she found out she had gallstones. It’s something I’ve had myself and although it’s incredibly painful, we never in a million years thought it would turn into what it did.
She had an appointment booked at the beginning of January to arrange surgery but on the 7th the pain suddenly became unbearable. She was rushed into hospital by ambulance and from that moment, everything deteriorated so quickly.
They tried to control the infection with antibiotics but her condition rapidly worsened. Her observations became dangerously unstable, and on the 9th she was taken down for emergency surgery. That’s when we were told she had developed sepsis, and that it had spread to her pancreas.
Things escalated and a decision was made to put Stacy into a coma so she could receive life-saving treatment. Over the course of just a few hours, her organs were starting to fail, and then her heart began to struggle too.
We were told to prepare for the worst. We truly thought we were going to lose her, and the pain we all felt in that moment was unbearable.
But somehow, over the coming day, Stacy kept fighting.
Despite everything the doctors could do, the sepsis caused devastating damage to her body. The infection led to a loss of blood flow to her limbs, and heartbreakingly, they couldn’t be saved.
Stacy has since undergone multiple life-changing surgeries, including the amputation of both her hands and both legs.
Her whole life has changed in such a short space of time, and with that comes all the challenges she’s now facing, the things most of us wouldn’t even think twice about.
We as a family are doing everything we can financially however the costs are ramping up and so I am trying to raise some extra funds to take some of the pressure off her and help her rebuild her life and regain even a small amount of independence after everything she’s been through
She now has to leave her home, as the adaptations needed for her to live safely can’t be made there. Things that sound simple, like needing a higher sofa to help her move safely, a suitable bed, wheelchair-friendly flooring, are now essential. On top of that, she will need specialist equipment to help her get out of the house, into cars, and live as independently as possible, not to mention prosthetics, which I can’t even begin to get my head around the cost of.
I could go on, but for now I’ll leave it here. I’m more than happy to answer any questions, as I also want to raise awareness, this has opened my eyes massively.
If you can donate anything, even just £1, I would be beyond grateful, it would mean everything to my sister. She has given so much to others, and she truly deserves this support in her time of need.
If you’re unable to donate, please just share, every share really does make a difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this
