HELP MY SISTER NINA FIGHT FOR HER LIFE AFTER A RARE ILLNESS
For anyone who knows me, you know how much I love, appreciate, and value my sister Nina. After two very difficult years, we thought we could finally enjoy a peaceful life together, but life has other plans.
In February 2024, we lost our mom to cancer complications. A year later, in February 2025, we lost our dad to diabetes complications. Now, just months later, my sister is fighting for her life.
On Wednesday, July 31st, I couldn't reach Nina all day. We talk every day since she lives in California and I live in NYC, so at first, I thought she had just left her phone behind like she's done before. But when her coworker called to ask if I had heard from her, I knew something was wrong. My sister is super responsible, and she would never not call into work if she was going to be out or not answer my calls or messages.
I asked her neighbor to check on her since she has a key to my sister's home. She found my sister Nina unconscious on the floor, bleeding from her nose and mouth. From what we calculated from the last time someone was able to reach her, she had been laying there since the previous night in that condition. At that point, she was rushed to the hospital and intubated due to not being able to breathe on her own. After days of tests, doctors diagnosed her with a rare condition called Moya Moya disease, which is a disorder that narrows blood vessels in the brain and restricts blood flow. Nina had suffered multiple strokes on the right side of her brain.
She has since opened her eyes, but she has lost movement on the left side of her body and is unable to speak. Doctors have told me her life may never return to what it once was. She now faces a long, difficult road of rehabilitation.
If you know Nina, you know she is kind, smart, selfless, and always willing to help others. Now she's the one who needs help. I am asking the GoFundMe Community, her friends, family, coworkers, and anyone touched by her story to consider donating.
Every contribution will go directly towards her medical bills, rehabilitation, and the care she needs to live as normal a life as possible. No amount is too small, and every act of generosity will make a difference.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your love, prayers, and support for my sister.
