My name is Ivy. Under unfortunate circumstances, on the 8th of March my younger sister Mimi who lives in the Philippines, woke up and was unable to move or speak. When hospitalised she was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), a condition where the body’s immune system attacks the nerves causing rapid-onset muscle failure (paralysis). She is one of 2 in 100 000 to have GBS. She has now been in the hospital for 2 weeks and will remain there until she responds to treatment.
With no such thing as Medicare or government aided subsidies, myself and my family are under enormous financial stress to support her. We are doing the best we can but can only provide so much whilst maintaining my own family here in Australia.
All funds raised from this GoFundMe page will fund Mimi’s medical bills, medication and further rehabilitation for a lengthy recovery.
Any contribution won’t go unnoticed and we truly appreciate your support.
