This is the story in my sisters words, I have only increased the amount she is hoping to raise as I feel she set the bar too low. "In October and November 2016 I was hospitalized for 6 weeks, resulting in a rare and potentially fatal blood disorder, (HLH)Hemophagocytosis lymphohistiocytosis. I am in need of a stem cell transplant which is sceduled for April 26th. I have not been able to work since last October and therefore the finacial aspects of monthly bills and expenses of treatments that aren't covered by insurance are quickly adding up. I need to drive back and forth to Boston each week to be seen at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and spend overnights in hotels for next day early appointments. The last treatment I had was over $3000, which is not covered, yet i'm appealing. I filed for disability but that takes a long time. And Medicaid is not available for 2 years after approval. I am hoping to raise $5000 - $10,000 for medical expenses and other costs related to the transplant. Thankfully my sister Kathy and brother Shawn are a match for the transplant, as the donor bank did not have a match at this time, and Shawn is scheduled to donate at the end of this month. My insurance will be cancelled at some point soon because I will not be able to return to work for at least a year after transplant and my job can't hold my position much longer.
