Please Help My Sister Julieta Heal

Hello community, thank you for taking the time to take a peek at this ask. My sister Julieta needs our urgent help.

She is a Mexican artist (as well as loving partner, daughter, pet mama, sister and friend) in her early 20’s currently living in Canada, battling lifelong chronic illnesses that have unfortunately rendered her disabled as of late.

In her words: “I have been experiencing an increasing degree of chronic vertigo and chronic migraines for the last two years.

In the last year and a half I have been navigating Canada’s broken healthcare system, in which I have faced endless wait times and dead end referrals, and in that time the illness has progressed to the point where my capacity for mobility has decreased dramatically.

I have had to adjust to a life in which I need assistance, support and help in daily tasks that I’ve done on my own my entire life. Everything is more difficult, and a lot more painful. I experience nystagmus (seizures in my eyes) at least every five minutes, the vertigo keeps me incapable of moving my eyes or head in any direction, and the migraines keep me in a constant state of severe pain.

The ever-present nausea makes throwing up a part of my hourly routine, and I have exhausted my options for medicative treatment.

It’s been suggested on a few occasions that what we may be dealing with here is a severe case of Ménière’s disease, a disabling vestibular disorder. However, given that through all of my constant efforts I haven’t been given the light of day by the neurologists, ENTs, and other qualified specialists here, there are many more steps we need to take in the vein of brain scans, CT scans, and other tests and measures that must be taken to also eliminate the possibility of something that may be even worse and in more pressing need of our attention.

Time and time again, I have been told that this testing is time sensitive as my case gets worse by day and new symptoms arise the longer this goes without treatment, but the medical professionals haven’t given me the light of day.”

What she describes there barely covers the amount of suffering she endures on a daily basis, and doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the other symptoms she experiences due to her other illnesses.

This sweet woman is so young and in so much pain 24/7 to the point where she can hardly walk and keep herself safe independently. She has been attempting to seek medical help for so long to no avail because of how the healthcare system of her current country of residence works and due to consistently being up against complex adversities, not to mention the amount of trauma and tragedies that have befallen her on a personal level time and time again, making it all the more difficult to heal.

Julieta is in current need of a wheelchair/walker combination mobility aid, which costs roughly $300. She is in need of extra funds for an upcoming appointment with a health advocacy team that quoted a single visit with them to cost up to $1k, and most importantly, she needs to have security for the future months for food and shelter. Just today, she had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to her beloved full-time job as a nanny to two beautiful children she loves with her entire heart.

Her partner also works full time and is unable to be by her side in every situation. I, too, help her as much as I can from afar, but as we all know from things we all may have gone through in life, it takes a village.
Whether you know Julieta personally or not, she is a beautiful light in this world who goes above and beyond to aid others in need every single day in every single way. It’s our turn to show her love and support.
If every person I know shared even one dollar with us, we would get this fundraiser covered. Her health is officially in a state of emergency and she deserves to survive this and thrive. Please, help my sister heal.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you are able to offer to help. It means the world to us.

With love,
Dosia/Dobrochna
