Two months ago, my baby sister, Jeannine, became violently ill.  It was discovered that she had a deadly bacterial infection that had destroyed one of her heart valves.  On April 28th she underwent open heart surgery at Mount Sinai.  It was touch and go there for a while but thank God, she pulled through.  After 28 days in the hospital, she was released on May 7th but still has a long road ahead of her.

Even though they have insurance, it doesn’t cover everything, and their out-of-pocket bills are quickly adding up to astronomical proportions.  She is on unpaid medical leave from her job and will need cardiac therapy for months to get her strength back.  They just do not have the means to pay these mounting bills.
