Odin, lovingly called Odi, was my sister and her boyfriend’s cherished cat and a true member of their family. They got him in 2023, making him only two and a half years old when he passed. Odin brought so much comfort and joy to their lives in the short time they had together. Recently, Odin suffered a sudden urinary blockage and had to be hospitalized for three days. The veterinarians placed a catheter to help drain his bladder, and after a few days, he was able to come home. We were hopeful as he seemed to be recovering, but just a day later, he was in pain again and unable to urinate. We rushed him to the ER, where they discovered he was blocked once more. The doctors explained that when a cat gets blocked again so quickly, it often means there is severe kidney failure. They discussed the possibility of surgery to remove any blockages in his kidneys, and if that didn’t help, a more invasive surgery to widen his urethra. Even with these procedures, there was no guarantee he would survive, as the anesthesia and stress could be too much for his heart. After much heartbreak, my sister and her boyfriend made the difficult decision to let Odin go, as he would have continued to suffer with ongoing pain and uncertain outcomes. The loss has been devastating, and on top of the grief, my sister and her boyfriend are now facing significant emergency vet bills and unexpected expenses from his care. Any support would mean so much to them as they try to recover from this loss and manage the overwhelming costs. Thank you for considering helping them during this difficult time.
