I never thought I’d be writing something like this. My sister recently suffered a severe accident at work involving a retired K9 she had been housing and caring for. She’s had this dog for a year, gave him a second chance at life when others wouldn’t and he had always been gentle, loyal, and happy. But out of nowhere, something terribly went wrong.
We believe he developed a neurological condition known as rage syndrome. The attack was completely unprovoked, and once it started, he just couldn’t snap out of it. It was terrifying and heartbreaking. My sister was airlifted immediately to a trauma center where doctors worked quickly to stabilize her and tend to her injuries.
She’s now facing a long, painful recovery weeks in a wheelchair, followed by months of physical therapy and healing. Because she owns her own small business working with and training dogs, she won’t be able to work during this time, which means she has no income coming in while she recovers.
To those who know her personally, you know how much her dogs are her world being away from them during this time has been incredibly hard on her. She’s devoted her life to helping animals, rescuing the ones nobody else would take, and giving every dog a chance at happiness. She’s not the type to ever ask for help, so this truly says a lot about how difficult things are right now.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help cover her bills and basic expenses for the next few months so she can focus on healing, not stressing about money. These funds will also help keep Major K9s Academy the place everyone knows and loves dearly stay up and running. This accident was devastating, both physically and emotionally, but she’s strong and determined to get through it and get back to her dogs.
Any amount you can give will make a difference and mean the world to her and our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this and for your kindness and support.
