My sister has fallen into the worst possible situation due to severe domestic violence. My sister was in a relationship with a guy that was very abusive to her: mentally, emotionally, and physically. During their relationship, he had been deported to Mexico. She worked 2 jobs and maintained her own apartment. She would spend her days off renting Air B&B's to spend time with him near the border so it would be easy for her to come back home and maintain her life here in the United States.
My sister recently moved into an apartment in Tijuana. Her decision to move was not one myself or my parents agreed with; we were already fearful for her life. Unfortunately, she wanted to give the relationship a chance. The move was my sister sacrificing her stability near her family to provide a home for her abusive boyfriend. Her boyfriend has put several black eyes on her, bit her, and dragged her across the concrete, leaving abrasions on her skin. The final act of domestic violence resulted in my sister acting in self-defense, leading her to being held in a jail in Tijuana. We are in need of financial support for legal fees in getting her brought back to the United States—anything helps.
