Hi, my name is Molly and I'm fundraising on behalf of my beautiful, amazing sister Christina (pictured right). She was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and will lose a significant amount of her income to survive this thing.
Christy met with her new oncologist on January 23 with the expectation that the lump she found in her breast 2 months prior was caught early enough to just need to be removed. Unfortunately, the tumor progressed quickly and instead, she was diagnosed with grade 3 invasive breast cancer. She is facing an aggressive treatment plan of 6 cycles of chemotherapy followed by surgery, radiation, and 6+ additional months of HER2 treatment through IV. If the chemotherapy does not crush the tumor as we hope, she will need additional treatment.
A day after receiving this devastating news, she drove 2 hours each way back to that same hospital to have a port installed in her neck to help her receive the chemo. Chemo was to start the following Thursday. Christy tested positive for covid the following week, causing her to take more time off work and almost delaying her first chemo appointment.
It was made clear after the 8 hours worth of gas in 2 days, her taking off work with no pay for 2 weeks, and the multiple expensive copays that the real physical and financial cost of treatment would be devastating. Between Christy's treatment and her husband being her primary caretaker, they will lose a significant portion of their already modest income. They are currently living paycheck to paycheck as is and they are already behind after just the diagnosis and one chemo treatment.
I am asking for your help. Our family contributions will not be enough and isn't a sustainable option for her recovery. Please share this with as many people as you know and help me save my sister. Her life depends on her getting help with her finances and treatment so that she can focus on her physical and mental health.
Thank you for reading our story and for donating/sharing. Even the smallest bit will help so much.
