Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
I'm reaching out to you today with a story of resilience and courage, a story that revolves around my beloved sister, Angie McAllister. Three years ago, she faced the daunting battle against uterine cancer, a journey that required her to undergo a hysterectomy followed by rounds of chemo and radiation. With immense strength and the support of her loved ones, she emerged victorious, receiving a clean bill of health.
However, life had another cruel twist in store for her. At Christmas, she began experiencing excruciating back pain, prompting a visit to the hospital. The diagnosis was devastating - cancer was back and had deteriorated half of a vertebra, threatening her spinal cord. Without hesitation, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor pressing against her spine and fuse 6 vertebra to support her weakened spinal column, braving yet another terrifying chapter in her fight against this relentless disease.
But the ordeal didn't end there. Further tests were needed to confirm the assumption that the uterine cancer had metastasized. To everyone's dismay, the results revealed a different type of cancer - Multiple Myeloma. This aggressive form of cancer had not only attacked her spine, but it also manifested itself in a spot on her hip, adding another layer of complexity to her already arduous journey.
My sister is not just a cancer survivor; she is a fighter, a beacon of hope, and the epitome of strength. Despite the physical and emotional toll of battling cancer, she remains resilient, holding onto the precious moments with her family - three children and four grandchildren - who are her driving force and motivation to keep fighting.
Adding to the complexity of her situation, my sister's husband is a devoted minister, tirelessly serving his community in Duncan, Oklahoma. He and my sister are facing the daunting challenge of traveling from Duncan to Texas, specifically MD Anderson, for her necessary treatment. While their faith provides them with strength and support, the financial strain of medical bills, treatments, and associated travel expenses weighs heavily on them.
This is where we need your help. As a community, as compassionate individuals, we can rally around my sister and her family, offering support in any way we can. Your generous donations will alleviate the burden of medical and travel expenses, allowing my sister to focus on what truly matters - her health and her family.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in my sister's journey towards healing and recovery. Together, let's stand beside her, showing her that she is not alone in this fight.
Thank you from the depths of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support during this challenging time.
With love and gratitude,
Terry Hyams, a very concerned little brother.
