Please Help Anne Recover from a Life Altering Shooting
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rebekkah I’m raising funds to help my sister, Anne.
My sister Anne is one of the kindest, most selfless people you could ever meet. The kind of person who would give what little she has to help you. She’s turning 70 next month, a milestone we had all been looking forward to celebrating. But instead of celebrating joy and peace, Anne is now facing some of the darkest days of her life.
Years ago, Anne found the strength to leave an abusive husband. Her decision nearly cost her life. He shot her in the back as she was walking into her home after work. Miraculously, she survived, but the attack left her with a debilitating autoimmune disease that changed her life forever.
Despite everything, Anne has lived with grace and courage, managing to get by in Section 8 housing. A few months ago, she underwent back surgery to relieve chronic pain and regain mobility. My niece got her a special lifting chair. It helped her sit, stand, and begin the journey back to strength.
Never once has Anne shown any bitterness and is forgiving. She’s never complained of where life has taken her and has never felt sorry for herself.
On May 8, tragedy struck again. An argument outside her apartment escalated into gunfire. A stray bullet pierced her wall, shattered her phone, tore through her lifting chair and tore through Anne’s forearm. She was rushed to a trauma center, where she is still recovering from surgery.
Anne’s nurses report she cries out in her sleep from the emotional trauma, haunted by her past she’s now reliving. This second shooting has reawakened her PTSD. And yet, we are all so grateful, because if Anne sat up in her chair seconds before, the bullet would have struck her heart. She narrowly escaped death once more.
Now, as she recovers in the hospital, she’s facing yet another cruel blow: an eviction notice. She is about to lose the little home she has, her forever home.
I’m reaching out today to ask for your help. We are raising funds to:
* Replace Anne’s phone so she can stay connected with loved ones and emergency services,
* Get her another lifting chair, essential for her healing and independence,
* Store her belongings safely until we can find her a secure place to live
* Scooter to help her get around and live independently.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping replace what Anne has lost so she can regain a sense of safety, dignity, and hope. Right now, she needs a village. She needs all of us.
If you’ve ever believed in the power of kindness, compassion, or second chances, please consider helping Anne.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
