Help my Dad and Sister Restore Family Home After Hurricane

Hello - my name is Renee. I started this fundraiser for my father Bruce, and my twin sister, Rochelle who live near the water in Palm Harbor, Florida, with Rochelle's college-aged children.

Their family was absolutely devastated by Hurricane Helene. Helene was the strongest to hit the Tampa area in decades and the surge caused 3-4 feet of flooding to their home and cars. Three cars were totaled, including her daughter's car, who came home from her local college to shelter in place.

Rochelle has discovered flood insurance will only cover damage to load-bearing walls. Our 78-year-old father, who is unable to walk or stand without assistance, lived on the ground level in a custom-made living arrangement which was destroyed. Simple things like his bed, chair, personal items, clothes, and so much more were soaked in toxic algae and human waste.

Rochelle, a single mother raising two amazing kids who are now in a local college, was already struggling financially and works to make ends meet as a health care provider. She was working the day the hurricane hit and was unable to return home despite the alert that their house was in a mandatory evacuation zone... It flooded within hours of her returning home.

I'm trying to raise funds as soon as possible to help my dad and sister begin immediate mold remediation on the ground level and to repair my father's living area.

They had to pay $9000 to clean out the mold and will have to pay thousands more to repair and replace everything: drywall, flooring, bedding, furniture, cabinets, appliances, all of my father's clothing, and so much more.

Time and money are of the essence. I can't express how thankful we would be for ANY assistance you can provide to help fund the mold remediation and to help with costs to replace all of my dad's furniture and belongings because he has lost everything. I spoke to my dad on the phone a few days after the flood and he said, "I feel like I died but I'm still alive” which was just heartbreaking. Any help will be so greatly appreciated!
