Help my Sis Jennifer Brown Recover from a Brain Stem Stroke
Donation protected
It’s with a heavy, yet deeply hopeful heart that I share this.
On March 18th, during an angiogram procedure, my sister Jennifer Brown suffered a major brain stem stroke. It left the entire right side of her body paralyzed and impacted her ability to speak, swallow, and do even the most basic tasks. Our world shifted in that moment.
On April 1st, just days after being transferred to acute rehab, her care team discovered a brain bleed. She underwent an emergency, life-saving brain surgery, one of the scariest days of our families lives. By God’s grace, she pulled through. She’s still here with us. And every day since, she has shown incredible strength—working hard to recover.
I’m proud beyond words of her courage. In just the past week, she’s begun eating real food again for the first time in three weeks. She’s finding her voice. And she’s even starting to have muscle contractions in her right leg. These may seem like small steps, but to us, they are giant victories.
Jennifer is not just my sister. She’s a mother to two amazing boys, ages 9 and 14, and the wife of a loving husband who is doing everything he can to support her through this. Their world has also been turned upside down. We are all rallying together, but we know the road ahead will be long.
While insurance will cover 21 days of acute rehab, the truth is: stroke recovery doesn’t stop after three weeks. In fact, research shows that the first 1 to 3 months after a stroke are the most critical for regaining function—this is when the brain is most responsive to rehabilitation. After that, recovery continues, but at a slower pace, often lasting years.
That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe. We want to give Jennifer the absolute best chance at recovery in this precious window of time. We’re researching intensive rehab programs, alternative therapies, and at-home support—but many of these come with high out-of-pocket costs. Any contribution, no matter the size, would help us make decisions based on what’s best for her—not just what’s affordable.
More than anything, we are asking for your prayers—for strength, healing, and guidance. But if you feel moved to contribute financially to Jennifer’s recovery journey, we would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for holding Jennifer and our family in your heart.
