I was searching for a dog to train as a service companion to help detect my sugar levels. Thanks to a generous donation from our local golf course, I was able to begin training. Around that time, my aide told me about a young dog who needed a new home. I spent a day with her and immediately knew she was the one. Despite being just seven months old and never having been to the vet, she quickly adapted, became house trained, and showed me so much affection. I got her vaccinated, spayed, and enrolled in training classes. By the end of six weeks, she was ready to help me with my health needs.
A few months ago, she developed a growth on her belly, and recently more appeared on her leg. The vet at Glens Falls Animal Hospital said these are skin tags that need to be removed to prevent further issues. I’ve been making all-natural treats and healthy food for her, and she’s become a beloved companion not just to me, but to others at the hospital where I receive chemo for CLL Leukemia. I now supply treats for other service and emotional support dogs who comfort patients during treatment.
The surgery, testing, medications, and follow-up care will be covered by the donations received. Most of my friends have pets and understand how urgent and costly care can be. I volunteer in my community and am grateful for any support. Your help will mean the world to me and my service dog, and I’ll share updates and photos every step of the way. Thank you for considering a donation or sharing my fundraiser.
