Hey guys, I got huge news! I just received an invitation email to Ironman World Championships today! I am so excited, I literally haven’t stopped shaking.
When this goal started I wrote on my bathroom mirror in permanent marker I will qualify for Ironman World Championships! During this time my wife and I went through a devastating miscarriage. I walked into the bathroom later that day and my wife wrote on the other corner of the mirror, I will have a healthy pregnancy! Since that miscarriage my wife went on to have an extreme smooth pregnancy! Giving birth January 17th to a health baby boy named Zayne! She completed the massive hurdle of pregnancy, accomplishing a goal that scared both of us! Now it’s time to make my goal/dream reality! With my son in my corner for the first time during an Ironman! That Ironman just happens to hopefully be Ironman world championships!
The way you qualify is first come first service, first in your respective Age Group gets first dibs basically. And AG’s get slots based off amount of people in an Age Group at the race. Last year this was my dream quite literally everyday, kept me up at night, and got me up early. Seriously clocked more than 40 hours a week of workouts for multiple weeks! Chattanooga was the race I tried to quantify for Kona at! It went great! Thought I needed a sub 10 hour finish for this goal to become reality. I crushed that and ran a 9:38, 20th Overall but 6th in my Age Group. Unfortunately my AG only got 3 slots to Kona. So I fell short!
Kona or Ironman World Championships got changed to Nice France this year. They gave people a chance to get a refund with the movement of the race. This opened a spot for me!
I am trying my best to make this trip happen. It’s a dream to me! However, I just became a father, wife became a stay at home mother, and money is tight! I’ll do my best to return the favor!
Former Marine, current city fireman, husband, new father, and a motivated athlete. Any help at all would be much appreciated!!
