A few weeks ago we rescued Jerry from the shelter. We welcomed him into our home and he immediately became a part of the family. He and Stella were two peas in a pod. They did everything together. It was all perfect until it wasn’t. When I got home from running errands on Wednesday, I was only greeted by Jerry. I called for Stella and heard nothing. I started to panic because she is always waiting behind the door when I get home. I walked in the living room and found her lying in a pool of her own blood under the bookshelf. I immediately took her to Blue Pearl Animal Emergency Hospital. She is still in the ICU. They were able to give her a blood transfusion, fluids, and medication. She is in a lot of pain but was stable enough to undergo surgery to address the extensive wounds to her neck and face. The CAT scan revealed a fractured skull and a misalignment in her vertebra. We are not out of the woods yet, but she is fighting. If you have had the privilege of meeting Stella, you know what an amazing dog she is and how important she is to us. We are now facing some pretty hefty bills and are unsure of how we are going to cover it all. Andrew and I are asking for prayers and donations for our baby girl. Any help is appreciated.
