This is Zahra and she has always been full of energy and joy, bringing happiness to everyone around her. On Friday June 12th, We woke up and took her on a walk and she was happy as usual. She came home ate and spent some quality couch time with us before we put her in the cage to go to the doctors. When we came home after about 4 hours we decided it was time for her to have a bath, but when we opened the cage and let her out she was extremely wobbly and discombobulated. We had her lay down and when we asked her to come to us again just 30 minutes later we realized that her hind legs completely stopped working, and she is now paralyzed from the waist down. This sudden change has been heartbreaking for both of us, as she can no longer run and play like she used to. Seeing her struggle with mobility and lose her spark has been incredibly difficult, but I am determined to do everything I can to help her recover.

We rushed her to the CARE (Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency) and spent all night there before they told us that she most likely has IVDD and would need surgery and she would need to be manually expressed in order to pee since she can’t on her own anymore. They informed us that they have a package for her to have MRI and Surgery for a combined total of just over $9,000. All the funds raised will go directly toward these medical needs, including MRI and X-ray imaging to diagnose the extent of her injury, spine surgery to regaining movement, and physical therapy to support her recovery. These treatments are essential for her to be able to walk again and enjoying life as she once did. Every dollar will make a meaningful impact on her journey toward healing.
