My partner and I have been struggling to leave an abusive living situation for years. Their family is highly verbally and emotionally abusive toward both of us but mostly them, and take enormous financial advantage of us. For years they have also attempted to bar us from leaving. My partner is completely disabled and requires daily care, and our income is extremely limited. As such, we have taken a long time to position ourselves to be able to flee this situation for good.

We attempted a gofundme for this once before, a few years ago, but the goal was never met, and shortly after that the situation collapsed even more for us and we were once again forced to stay put. Since then the situation has continued to deteriorate and the family, who have been taking financial and emotional advantage of my partner and I for years by now, are wanting to tighten their grip on my partner even more and move into the house with us , purely and plainly to exert more control over us and attempt to force us to stay here longer. We are beyond ready to move away once and for all, and can fully support ourselves once we do, but crucially our currently strained financial situation has made it impossible for us to get any sort of reliable transportation for ourselves.

This gofundme will be used to help us get out of the door, as well as making a down payment on a used car so we can get around to doctor's appointments, I can more easily get to work, and we can stop spending all of our income supporting a full extra household. We've positioned ourselves in such a way that we just need one final push and we'll finally be able to leave this nightmare behind. Every bit of help we can get with this will make a huge difference.
