After years of waiting, and hoping, our my mom is receiving her long awaited kidney transplant, thanks to an incredibly kind and selfless donor. In an act of equal generosity, my dad is donating his own kidney to another person in need.

While our hearts are full of gratitude and relief, the reality is that this journey comes with a large financial burden. Both of my parents are retired and living on fixed incomes, and the costs go far beyond what insurance will cover.

* The transplant co-pay and additional medical expenses including the transplant rejection medication

* Temporary housing for the weeks we’ll be in Tampa during recovery

* Any other expenses that may arise along the way
