Hello, my name is Albert Serna, and I’m asking for help for my parents, who are at risk of losing their home of 25 years.

My mom, Rosa, spent nearly 30 years helping families in crisis—protecting children from abuse, supporting foster youth, and showing up for people in their hardest moments. Even after retiring, she continued advocating for families and youth in her community.

Now, she’s the one who needs help.

Over the past few years, both my mom and my stepfather, Jon, have faced serious and overlapping health challenges. My mom suffers from a degenerative bone condition that has significantly limited her mobility, along with a kidney defect that causes frequent, painful infections requiring hospital treatment. She has undergone aggressive treatments that have left her physically drained.

At the same time, Jon survived a heart attack, only to later be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

As their health declined, so did their ability to keep up with mounting expenses. In October, they fell behind on their mortgage. Despite their efforts to recover, the financial strain became too much.

They are now facing foreclosure.

I am hoping to raise $10,000 to help them catch up on housing costs, prevent eviction, and give them a small cushion as they stabilize their health and finances.

This is not an easy ask. My parents have spent their lives helping others—now they need their community to help them.
