This week we celebrated my Dad's 70th Birthday. If you don't know my Dad's story, he had a heart attack at 48 that almost took his life and he's been working his butt off to stay healthy and reach this 70th bday milestone. And now he's a Papa to 5 Amazing grandchildren! My mom has been living with Parkinson's for 40 years now and now and needs full time care (my Dad is her main caregiver). They are amazing parents and grandparents and just overall, amazing people.

RIGHT AFTER HIS BIRTHDAY, they were victims of a devastating bank scam that wiped out one of my dad's accounts in a single day. It was insane. It was money he had worked so hard to put away. He also feels absolutely horrible about this happening to him. We've spoken with the banks and police, but having any chance of getting any of the money back is slim to none.

My mom has not been able to work since her diagnosis and her disease got much worse over time. My dad pays for a caregiver (out of his own pocket) to help out my mother twice a week, so he has a little relief. My dad, though retired, still works a part-time job to help pay for their caregiver and have some money left over after social security.

They are proud people who always manage on their own and never ask for help, but this situation is more than they can handle alone. I know how many people love and care for them. And, I hate seeing my parents feel devastated after this happening to them.
