On July 6th, a tornado swept through Detroit Lakes and hit my parents' neighborhood hard. In a matter of moments, their lives were turned upside down. The storm tore away half of their roof, shattered the living room window, and left glass scattered across the entire living room, filling the couch. My little brother’s bedroom window was also shattered, leaving his room completely covered in glass. With so much damage, my parents are now left with no place to stay and no clear idea of when they’ll be able to return to a safe home.

Almost everything they worked for was lost in the blink of an eye. While a life and everything they have worked for can’t be replaced, the damage done to their property can be repaired with the help of a caring community. The funds raised will go directly toward repairing their home, replacing essential belongings, and giving them hope and stability as they rebuild. This support will make a real difference in their lives as they face the long road to recovery.

I know this is a long shot, but I can’t sit here and feel like I’m doing nothing for my family. That’s why I’ve set up this GoFundMe—to hopefully raise a little bit of money to help my parents out in this difficult time.
