Help My Parents Rebuild After the Storm

As some of you may know, my mom and dad’s home was hit hard during the storm on June 9th in Savona, NY.

I had relocated my two children and myself to their house that evening because I was watching clouds form a funnel over our home and didn’t feel safe staying. Shortly after we arrived, a massive storm came through with strong winds, rain, and hail. While we were sitting in the living room, a large tree came down directly onto the roof above us. Thankfully, we were sitting under a steel beam and were physically unharmed—but it caused significant damage.

I quickly moved the kids into the back bedroom—away from any more trees. Within minutes, water began rushing through the house. The flooding was intense, and the foundation, floors, and walls have been severely compromised.

While insurance will cover the damage caused by the tree (primarily in the living room), it won’t cover the extensive water damage throughout the rest of the home. Their house is currently unlivable. The floors are sinking, the walls are cracking and shifting, and they are facing a long road ahead.

My parents have poured so much love and generosity into the lives of everyone around them. They never ask for help—but now, they truly need it.

They are currently staying with us, safe and supported, but rebuilding will be long and costly. If you feel called to help in any way—whether through a donation, sharing this with others, or sending love and prayers—we are so grateful.
