On August 1st, 2026 my parents lost their home in the devastating Spokane, WA wild

fires. My dad was out of town visiting my wife and I in Utah, so my mom was alone at the house with the dogs when the Level 3 evacuation order came. My youngest brother raced across town to get to her, and they made it out together with the dogs and almost nothing else. They are safe, but their home burned to the ground, along with photos, keepsakes, and a lifetime of memories that can’t be replaced.

Right now my parents are focused on the most immediate needs such as food, a place to stay, and clothes on their backs, while they navigate the insurance process and all the unknown expenses that come with starting over. Both of them are teachers in Spokane Public Schools, District 81, at Flett Middle School and Westview Elementary. Their schools and their students were hit by this same fire, and there’s a lot of uncertainty ahead about what this school year will even look like. Every dollar raised goes directly to them.

So many people have already reached out asking what they can do. My parents have spent their careers taking care of other people’s kids and have never been the type to ask for anything for themselves, so I’m asking for them.
