As some of you know, my father has been in and out of the hospital on and off since November. He is a senior and lives off of retirement. My mom took an early retirement due to medical issues and to care for her husband, my father.

Recently, their landlord gave notice that the building would be selling, and to get it ready for show. Unfortunately, my parents were asked to leave at the end of March with no other tenants affected. They have lived in this apartment for the last 8 years, so it was definitely unexpected.

Unfortunately, they were given one month to move as of March 1st.

Unfortunately, due to my dad’s health and them living on a fixed income, they have no savings. They currently live month to month with less than $50 to spare each month.

They can afford a new place after they move in, but they can’t afford the moving costs plus their last month of rent at the apartment they are being asked to leave.

My sisters and I can only help so much but this was unexpected and moves are expensive.

I’m trying to raise funds to cover first month’s rent/deposit, a moving truck and any small fees that may come with moving like transferring utilities and updating addresses.

My mom may be taking legal action against her landlord also. We can’t share many details due to the possibility of it going to court, but her landlord broke some laws when it came to the situation.
