Pls Help My Parents After Farm Attack Shooting.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aukje and I am raising funds on behalf of my parents Harm and Susan Bonnema who were the victims of a brutal farm attack shooting on the evening of 8th April 2019.
As many of you may have seen from the security camera footage that has been released; this was a completely senseless and unprovoked attack against two innocent people. Words cannot explain how heartbreaking it was to see on the video when my Dad was ambushed by two men and shot 4 times at their family home in Marble Hall, South Africa. Whilst my Dad was down on the ground, one of the men pointed his gun to my Dads head and tried to shoot him again, but fortunately his gun would not go off. My Dad immediately yelled to my Mom to lock the doors so that the men couldn’t get to her, whereby my Mom was able to call for help and the shooters fled. My Dad was able to crawl to the house and was later airlifted to ICU where he remains to receive care. No arrests have been made to date.
My parents are both in their 70’s and did not know the attackers, nor provoked this attack in any way. This farm attack is one of many happening all across South Africa on a daily basis and whilst the S.A government refuses to acknowledge these crimes being committed against innocent farmers and their families (as it is bad for tourism), we and so many other victims are faced with the aftermath of having to deal with medical bills that are sky high to try and heal both the physical injuries inflicted and the mental impact that follow these attacks.
As my Dad suffered gunshots to his arm, chest and leg, several operations will need to be carried out to remove the bullets and repair the bone fracture and nerve damage in his arm and leg. We are also hoping to continue ongoing counselling for them to deal with the fears and anxiety as a result of that awful night.
My parents are both very loved people in their community and are also very proud, hard working people who would never ask for financial help from anyone, which is why I am trying to help them in the only way I can, by fundraising for the operations, hospital care, counselling, after care rehabilitation costs along with daily expenses as a result of this attack and I would be extremely grateful if you are able to donate however much you can to help and please share this request as far and wide as possible in order for us to generate the help they need. Thank you.
