My dad was working in Washington when, just days before he was scheduled to come back home to Arizona, he became seriously ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. He has been there since July 13th. He was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare and aggressive bacterial infection that rapidly destroys tissue. Doctors told us that if he had waited even one or two more days to go in, he would have been in the ICU. It is a true medical emergency. He has already undergone two major surgeries to remove the infected tissue and try to stop the infection from spreading further. Two weeks in, he is still so weak that he cannot even walk to the bathroom by himself. Doctors have told us he will not be able to work for at least six months, and he may need several weeks in a physical rehabilitation facility before he can return home. My dad has worked hard for over 43+ years and has always provided for my mom and our family. He does not have health insurance. The combination of the hospital bills, the upcoming rehab costs, and the complete loss of income has left my parents in a very difficult financial position. Any support will go toward his medical expenses and helping my parents stay afloat while he recovers.
