Help Us Move So My Son Can Get the Care He Desperately Needs
I’m a parent doing everything I can to help my son.
My son is non-verbal and has severe autism. Over time, I’ve watched him struggle more and more as the resources available to us where we live have become extremely limited. Despite my best efforts, the support he needs simply doesn’t exist here. Recently, I’ve seen him regress — losing skills, becoming more frustrated, and having a harder time communicating and coping with the world around him. As a parent, there is nothing more painful than knowing your child needs help and being unable to access it.
There is help available for him — but it’s not where we live.
In Columbia, Missouri, there is a specialized program called the Thompson Center for Autism & Neurodevelopment. This center offers the evaluations, therapies, and coordinated care that my son urgently needs to stabilize, grow, and have a chance at a better quality of life. Getting him there could be life-changing — but moving is something I cannot afford on my own.
Relocating requires first and last month’s rent, deposits for utilities, transportation, and basic setup costs. These are necessary expenses to get my son into a safer, more supportive environment where he can finally receive the care he needs.
This move is not about convenience.
It is about early intervention, stability, and giving my son a chance to progress instead of regress.
Every donation — no matter the size — brings us closer to getting him into a place where professionals understand his needs and can help him communicate, learn, and feel safe in his own world. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping my son take this critical step forward.
