At my 20-week anatomy scan, we learned that our baby girl was affected by Amniotic Band Syndrome. At one point, a thick band was wrapped around her abdomen and was life-threatening. Thankfully, that band ruptured on its own, but it left lasting effects—our daughter was born missing her right foot. At 28 weeks pregnant, I went into an emergency situation due to ruptured membranes and a prolapsed umbilical cord. Our daughter had to be delivered early by emergency C-section. Since then, she has been incredibly strong, but her journey has been long. She is now 39 weeks, and she is still in the hospital working hard to come home. This has been an emotional and financial strain on our family. With the extended hospital stay, recovery from surgery, and time away from work, I have exhausted my maternity leave. I want nothing more than to be home with my daughter once she is discharged, to care for her and take her to the many medical appointments she will need—but financially, I am struggling to make that possible until additional support like SSI begins.
Donations will help cover travel costs to and from the hospital and future medical appointments, as well as much-needed maintenance for our old 2004 Yukon. They will also help with rent and utilities, since I have exhausted my savings during my daughter's hospital stay and have no income while caring for her and pumping breastmilk around the clock.
Any support you can give means the world to us. Your kindness will help me be there for my daughter as she continues her fight and begins her journey home. Thank you for reading and for considering helping our family during this difficult time.
