My neighbor recently experienced an unexpected hardship when her parked car was hit and totaled by a driver in the middle of the night. Because of the car’s age, it was automatically declared a total loss, and she’s now facing the difficult process of turning in her license plates and re-registering her car from salvage. To make matters worse, she’s had to rent a car just to get by, and has been forced to cancel work and important doctor appointments.

Despite reaching out to neighbors and checking security cameras, the person responsible was never identified. This means my neighbor is left to pay out of pocket after her insurance deductible, with no one to hold accountable for the damages. It truly feels like a lottery of woes—she just happened to be the one hit in our neighborhood, and now she’s struggling to recover from this setback.

Funds raised will go directly toward helping her repair and re-register her car, cover the cost of a rental vehicle, and make up for lost wages while she’s unable to work.
