Help my mum get private cancer treatment

Donation protected
Earlier this year my mum was rushed into Manchester Royal Infirmary, unable to eat anything due to the pain she was in. They discovered she had bowel cancer, that was approximately 11cm by 7cm in size. This was after months of scans, specialist appointments and biopsies. The tumour attached itself to her uterus, her ovaries, her womb and tore a hole in her colon, flooding her body with toxins.

Whilst there she lost over two stone in weight and more in the run up to ending up in hospital. This was because the cancer was so big, it meant that eating caused her an enormous amount of pain. She had two initial surgeries. One to fit a stoma to alleviate the pain caused by the blockage of the cancer and then underwent further surgery to fix a hernia which is quite common after a stoma is fitted.

Then she had to recover and face the big one. Thanks to the amazing surgeons at MRI, they managed to remove the tumour along with all the other parts that the cancer had attached itself to and we were relieved to know it had all been taken out. She came home and moved on to the Christie to face her next battle, Chemotherapy. But unfortunately, after several months of sickness and all the other awful side effects of Chemotherapy, we found out that it's not worked. The cancer has spread.

The Christie scanned her a few weeks ago to find the cancer has now moved to her liver and it is completely inoperable. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given only 6 months to live without any treatment. We were absolutely devastated to learn this as she has been so strong throughout this huge ordeal.

My mum is our world, our rock and the one who has always been there for us no matter what. She's been a constant support, providing love and care for my brother, my dad and me. From a hug, to a laugh and all that's in between. She's been at the heart of everything we've ever needed, even when we didn't know it.

My two boys adore her, she's their Mandy. Always ready to whip up chocolate brownies and a nice cuppa. She greets my youngest son every morning before school with a smile, even when he's got up on the wrong side of the bed, mum knows how to make everything ok. He loves eating his breakfast with her and putting the world to rights. My eldest has always loved her sense of humour and her keen ear for a banger of a tune, they have such a close bond between them. Mum is a huge part of all our lives.

After some lengthy searching online and discussions with her specialist, we've managed to find some hope. There are options available to treat her, prolong her life and potentially cure her. But time is of the essence and they come at a cost.

Private treatment is expensive, but it's her only option now. We desperately need your help to raise the funds she needs to get treatment. Anything you can donate will be gratefully received and we'd really appreciate it if you could share this page to help us reach our target.
