Why I’m Raising This Money

My name is Jesús Enrique Tovar, and with a heavy heart, I share that my mum, Fracisca Ramona Mujica, passed away last Tuesday due to sepsis, following a long and painful battle.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many of you, she was able to undergo two emergency surgeries and receive critical care that gave her a chance to fight with dignity and hope.

Although my siblings and I couldn’t be there in person due to the overwhelming medical costs, my mum was surrounded by the love of her sisters, brothers, nephews, and community members until the very end. Later, my sister Joan and her son Miguel travelled from Bogotá to Valencia to be present at the funeral. Your support made that possible, too.

My mum was our rock — a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, a kind soul who gave without ever expecting anything in return. She raised four children with love, humility, and unshakable faith. She achieved everything she set out to do, and her legacy lives on in everyone she touched. She is deeply missed.

“She was the sweetest, most loving and caring mother. I feel so lucky and thankful for having her in my life.”

So far, this fundraiser has helped us cover a significant portion of her care — including surgeries, medical supplies, ICU costs, ambulance transportation, and medications. But we are still left with $3,700 in debt owed to the private clinic, which must be repaid in the next 30 days.

En memoria de mi mamá – Ayuda a cubrir la deuda médica

Mi nombre es Jesús Enrique Tovar, y con el corazón hecho pedazos, comparto que mi mamá, Fracisca Ramona Mujica, falleció el pasado martes debido a una sepsis, luego de una larga y dolorosa lucha.

Gracias a la generosidad y el cariño de tantos de ustedes, ella pudo someterse a dos cirugías de emergencia y recibir cuidados críticos que le dieron la oportunidad de luchar con dignidad y esperanza.

Aunque mis hermanos y yo no pudimos estar presentes físicamente debido al alto costo de los gastos médicos, mi mamá estuvo rodeada del amor de sus hermanas, hermanos, sobrinos y amigos hasta el último momento. Más adelante, mi hermana Joan y su hijo Miguel lograron viajar desde Bogotá a Valencia para asistir al funeral. Ese gesto también fue posible gracias al apoyo recibido.

Mi mamá fue nuestro pilar — una testigo de Jehová devota, una mujer noble que ayudaba a todos sin esperar nada a cambio. Crió a cuatro hijos con amor, humildad y una fe inquebrantable. Logró todo lo que se propuso en la vida y su legado vive en cada persona que tuvo la suerte de conocerla. Su ausencia se siente profundamente.

Hasta ahora, esta campaña nos ha permitido cubrir una parte importante de su atención médica — incluyendo las cirugías, insumos, traslados en ambulancia, cuidados intensivos y medicamentos. Pero aún queda una deuda pendiente de $3,700 con la clínica privada, la cual debemos saldar en los próximos 30 días.
