Help My Mum Fight Against Aggresive Leukemia

My name is Vincent Surya Pratama; I am raising these funds to help my lovely Mum fight her Acute Myeloid Leukemia

My Mother, Nani Hartati, who is 49 years old, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Early October 2022 and has been hospitalised at Borneo Medical Centre in Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia.

With this diagnosis, it means she has to go for a few cycles of chemotherapy and will also require a stem cell transplant/bone marrow transplant which means she will be fully hospitalised in a total for a minimum of 6 months.

Our Mum, who has been a fantastic Mother to her Children and a loving Wife to her husband all these times, has been saving up for her entire life.

And as her children, we have also helped as much as we possibly could and still have not been able to make up for the total amount needed for the entire treatment.

We have spent a total of Ringgit Malaysia RM89,509.50 ( Equal to Australian Dollar $29.125,45 ) as of this post posted on 16 November 2022 and bill is still going.

My Mum's Diagnosis Story :

This all started with me feeling incredibly sick and thinking I had not been this sick before. Having to have my partner and children to help me in most of daily household chores and difficulty in breathing as well as staying up made me think that something serious was happening.

I visited my local ER that day in Pontianak, Indonesia and was asked to have some blood test done.

After waited for hours and hours, I was told that I possibly have Leukemia because My Leukocyte came back at 38 something while the normal range of Leukocyte is between 4-11.

I was prescribed antibiotics that day because the doctor said there could be infection going on inside my body that causes my Leukocyte cells grows rapidly and asked to comeback in 6 days after I finished my antibiotics.

6 Days Later : I went back to the Hematologist in the Hospital that day and do another blood test done. After the result comeback that day, My Leukocyte grows to 67 something. The Doctor then said this is must be Leukemia that I am having but Bone Marrow Biopsy will give the certain diagnosis.

Long story short, due to my condition that did not get any better and no clear treatment plan from my Doctor.

I made my way to Borneo Medical Centre in Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia.

The same day I arrived at the Hospital, I admitted right away to the Hospital because my blood work comeback showed my Leukocyte has nearly tripled to 162 something and it is so serious that I was not allow to leave the Hospital that very day.

The next day after the Hematologist explained to me in details about the disease as well as the medical treatment needed , I was in tears and nearly made my way back to the hometown due to the medical costs that I would not be able to afford.

I will need to undergo a few cycles of Chemotherapy as well as Stem Cell Transplant to be able to be cured from the Leukemia.

After consulted with my families, We have decided to undergo with the treatment with the all savings that we have been saved up our entire life because we have no insurance at all that will cover any part of these treatments.

Below are my treatment plan :

I have AML-FLT3.

With this aggressive blood and bone marrow cancer diagnosis, treating me at home is not an option. My internal strength, positive attitude and faith in my hematologist team, we have 3 Treatment Goals:

1. Kill as many of the leukemia cells as possible in blood with non-stop chemotherapy for 3 weeks ( Done )

2. Stabilize my blood counts and continue chemotherapy, if needed, until bone marrow biopsy reveals no leukemia cells ( In Progress )

3. Stem Cell Transplant – this is needed to offer me a new immune system and kill of AML-FLT3 on my own moving forward. ( In the future, after we have enough to cover the medical procedures cost as much as nearly AUD $100,000 alone for this procedures)

I have finished my first IV chemotherapy and now undergoing my second consolidation chemotherapy.
