Help My Mother, Winnet, Win Her Secret Battle with Breast Cancer
In December 2025, I went home for the holidays expecting a celebration. Instead, I discovered a secret my mother, Winnet, had been carrying in silence for over a year.
Since October 2024, my mother has been fighting breast cancer alone. She didn't tell us because she didn't want to be a “burden.” she knew my finances were already stretched thin, and she chose to suffer in silence rather than ask for help she believed we could not afford. By the time I noticed the lump on her chest, it had grown significantly.
While I am a Clinical Psychology graduate currently on internship, I also work part-time as a house maid and volunteer , but even with these efforts I cannot cover the cost of the specialized treatment she urgently needs.
The Progress So Far
Because of the incredible kindness of early supporters, we have already raised $1,180. This has truly been a lifeline. It allowed us to finally get the biopsy and critical tests she desperately needed and saved for the first chemo session on 9 February 2026.
Diagnosis
Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Nottingham Grade 2).
Encouraging News: The cancer has not spread to other parts of her body. This means we still have a real chance to treat it and save her life, but we must act quickly. The oncologist has prescribed a course of 8 chemotherapy cycles, go back to the general surgeon for assessment and a mastectomy (breast removal surgery).
This is the bridge my mother must cross to reach a cancer-free life. However, each cycle comes with a heavy financial cost that our family simply cannot meet alone. Through support, she has successfully completed the second chemotherapy session on 02 March 2026.
The Mountain We Must Climb
While we now have hope, we still lack the funds needed for the remaining chemotherapy cycles and next stages of treatment. My father’s income as a petrol attendant is modest, and my own earnings as a volunteer and part-time house maid are not enough to cover the specialized care she now requires.
The next stage includes costs for:
The remaining chemotherapy sessions
Surgery
Hospital admission and theatre fees
Medication and post-surgery treatment
Follow-up consultations and monitoring
The total estimated cost of treatment is approximately $6000 +
Our mission now is to show her that she is never a burden, she is our world.
How You Can Help
We are asking for your help to give Winnet the chance to grow old with her children.
No amount is too small. Every contribution brings us closer to her treatment.
If you cannot donate, please share this campaign on WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram
We believe deeply in the power of community and faith.
Every contribution, every share, and every prayer brings us closer to giving my mother the chance to live.
Thank you for standing with our family in this fight. Together, we believe Winnet can win this battle.
