On Thanksgiving 2025, my mother developed a severe cough and it became very hard for her to breathe. She went to the nearest hospital in Lubbock, TX, where she was immediately admitted for dangerously low oxygen. After a week-long stay and no improvement, she was diagnosed with COPD, given oxygen, and sent home.
Last night, things took a turn for the worse. My mother became panicked when she felt she could not breathe, even with oxygen. My stepdad rushed her to the hospital, where a CAT scan revealed something the doctors had never seen before—both of her lungs appeared to be completely covered in pneumonia. She was transferred to Las Cruces, NM, where specialists are working to determine what is going on. My stepdad and my 10-year-old sister are with her now, supporting her through this difficult time.
All of this has meant that my mother and stepdad have had to miss a lot of work. We are asking for help with travel expenses to and from the hospital, meals for my stepdad and sister, help with bills, and Christmas presents for my little sister. I know times are tough for everyone, especially right before the holidays, but any support you can give would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for reading. God Bless.
