Our year started off in a less than ideal fashion. My mother was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot. Two weeks later, multiple transfers to ICU, and a COVID diagnosis has our family wiped. Now we are faced with the life changing reality of amputation. While we navigate these new challenges and learn how to best support her, we realized we needed to make changes in our home.

To know my mother is to love her. She is intelligent, loving, hilarious and compassionate. She is fiercely protective of the ones she loves and will give her last dollar to those in need. She looks on the bright side of things but keeps in mind harsh realities. She understands this is a battle she cannot fight alone.

Donations will be utilized to convert our tub shower, into a stand up shower to ease her access. Life will be hard enough learning to live with a missing limb. Our goal is to make this transition as seamless for her as possible. The faster she is able to return to daily activities the better she will adjust.

Independent daily living is something many of us may take for granted. Our ability to get up and walk for what we need is usually given little thought. Please help us, help my mother regain her independence.

(Any donations in excess of our goal will be utilized to pay medical expenses including a week stay in ICU, 4 surgeries, 2 week stay on stepdown unit, physical therapy, prosthetic molding, medical equipment (including wheelchair, walker, cane etc)., Unfortunately the list goes on...)
