In February 2025, my mother suffered a terrible fall on black ice that changed her life. She sustained a severe concussion and tore both her posterior tibial tendon and Achilles in her right foot, injuries that now require surgical intervention. Her orthopedic surgeon described her injuries as perplexing, saying that based on her foot structure, she should not have been able to do this, and that the type of tear she managed to cause is something he only experiences about once per year. Since then, she has endured extreme, chronic, and debilitating pain every day. The recovery process has been long and difficult, there was an unintentional error here that stated that this was the ultimate reason she had to let go of clients. If you have been following along on the book of faces, then you will already know that my mother has been suffering from some wacky and randomly bizarre health issues going back a little bit further than this. This particular health issue was the one that broke the camel’s back, so to speak. This is the one that wouldn’t or couldn’t heal on its own. This one required surgery and significant post operative healing time.
Her post-operative recovery will include one to two weeks in a splint, four to six weeks in a cast, and then another four to six weeks in an orthopedic boot. During this time, she will continue to be unable to work and will need help covering basic living expenses like rent, utilities, and car expenses. There are also costs for durable medical equipment and possible care that aren’t covered by insurance, adding to the stress of her situation. I have seen the emotional impact that experiencing ongoing chronic pain has caused in her life.
My mother has always been the first to help others in need, and now she needs our support more than ever. She keeps talking about how she can’t wait to walk normally again, without experiencing horrible pain. Please help her do so. Thank you in advance for your prayers, your shares, and any amount of financial assistance you can offer. Your help would mean the world to us and will make a real difference in her journey to recovery.
