Calvin's mother has always been a strong and independent woman, but her world was turned upside down when a gas explosion destroyed her apartment in the Bronx. The fire that followed took everything she owned, including her three beloved house cats. In an instant, she lost her home, her cherished pets, and all her belongings, leaving her with nothing but the clothes on her back.

Thankfully, the Red Cross stepped in to provide her with shelter and some food, but the supplies are limited and the future is uncertain. At 65 years old and single, she now faces the daunting challenge of starting over from scratch. She is currently searching for a new place to live, but the road ahead is long and filled with obstacles.
