Help My Mother (Allison) Rebuild Her Home and Farm
Donation protected
Greetings friends, family, community, and ALL,
2020/2021 has not been the easiest on the world, on our communities, on our families, and on one another. There have been many struggles and loss within our lives. Whether these struggles or losses were major or minor- we are all suffering one way or another, however, we are all getting by~ the best we can~ with each others love and support daily.
I am writing to whomever reads this message, asking again graciously, for your support. My Mother, Allison Chambliss-Postmus, lost her Home, Husband Micheal Postmus (may he rest in peace), and two beloved Dogs Piper and Koko in a horrendous house fire - September of 2020.
My mother did NOT have home insurance, Micheal did NOT have life insurance. My mother was forced to jump 4 stories off the balcony of her Silo home, enduring burns to both hands, legs, scalp, and buttox. She has also suffered a fractured ankle, foot, and spinal disc. She also has a displaced rib. My mother spent one month at Boston MA General hospital in ICU. She was on a ventilator for her lungs for three, out of four, of those weeks. She returned back to her home state of VT mid October 2020.

Along with my mothers injury, her cat Trey also endured burns to his nose, whiskers, paw pads, ears, and fur.

Trey is alive, well, super happy and healthy as ever! Trey has been living with me since the fire and will permanently be living with me. Needless to say, we have created a really strong bond and he is my cat now! :) ((Thanks mom!))
My mother was gifted the sweetest little kitten while Trey had/has been living with me. Her name is Winehouse. and she has been such an great emotional support animal for my mother. Unfortunately Trey and Winehouse dont get along. Winehouse is super sweet, and my mom loves having her around.

I would like to take this opportunity to start a new GoFundMe for my Mother moving forward. I would also like to take this opportunity to update everyone on how my mother is doing, and how your previous support has helped her on her road to recovery.
With your previous, generous donations, my mother has been able to live comfortably (given the circumstances). Your donations have:
Allowed her to buy groceries and keep herself feed DAILY
Kept her clothed and warm through the cold winter months
Payed Medical bills
Payed for medical supplies (aquafor, bandages, balms, walker/cane, shower bench etc)
Payed for medications that her insurance does NOT cover
Payed for Vet Bills for Trey kitty and Winehouse
Payed for monthly cat supplies for BOTH Trey and Winehouse kitten (Dry + Wet food, Litter box, toys, cat litter)
Payed for my hotel expenses, travel expenses from VT to Boston, and other amenities while I took two months off of work to support my mother while she was in and freshly out of the hospital.
Payed for past-due taxes on the land
Payed for repair on her old vehicle
Aided my mother in purchasing a new (safer and working) vehicle/registration/ and repair
Allowed her to pay for gas daily
Payed for a New phone and monthly phone bills
Payed for a new license
Payed for kitchen and home appliances that she uses in her current hotel room she stays (Blender, Vacuum, Plate ware, Silverware, Note books, storage, files, stationary..etc)
Payed for daily health and wellness items -( vitamins, teeth care, shampoo, soap, towels.. etc)
The vast majority of the funds that REMAINED went to the actual burn site clean up, and to support the MANY volunteers who came out to the property to help. Instead of hiring a cleaning crew - family, friends, and community members (far and wide) gave a MASSIVE helping hand to restoring the property. My mother was overwhelmed and over joy at the outpouring of loving kindness. These volunteers donated so much of their time, we can not thank them enough. Some volunteers stayed on the land for days at a time- to help remove rubble and cleaned up as much as they could. These expenses in the clean up process included (but are not limited to) these items:
A grill for the land
A few weeks of groceries to feed the Clean Up Crew Volunteers
2 EZ-Ups to provide shelter and camp-style kitchen for Crew Members
A new Generator for the land, and for my mothers on land Bus-camper
Gas for the generator and gas cans
Heavy duty Outdoor lights
Shovels
N95 Masks
Eye protection
Work gloves
Hand sanitizer
Fresh Water bottles
MANY garbage bags
Heavy duty tarps
Payed for rental cost of FIVE 15 yard dumpsters. Filled to capacity, Yet still more for final clean up going forth
Porta Potty rental cost, and cleaning fee

I can not express enough my gratitude for EVERYONE who has donated money, shared the previous first GoFundMe, or just sent their love, thoughts, support, and prayers to my mother and my family. As you can read, that money was well used and spent for the greater good. It has kept my mother and those who have helped along the way safe, and supported.
That all being said, I am again asking for your support in moving forwards in an actual RE-BUILD of my mothers home. My mother has been living in an overflow shelter for the past several months. This living situation is not the greatest for her mental state and recovery. She is safe in her own room... however, I worry for her safety and well-being most days. She is still suffering from physical soreness, discomfort and pain in her body daily, as well as a heavy, hurting heart, and Trauma related PTSD. Every day she finds herself pushing through despite what she goes through daily.. it is so incredibly difficult most days. She is the strongest woman I know and she NEEDS all the support she can get. She is desperate and eager to return to her beautiful property once again, and be able to gain financial assistance for building a new home.
If you are able to, please take the time to donate what you are comfortable with, and share this updated GoFundMe. My mother is still looking for anyone who may want to come during the warmer summer months to help directly with the land cleanup and proposed build of her new home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your continuous support for my mother in the road to a happy, safe, comfortable, and beautiful recovery.
Peace and love always,
Casey Hagedorn ~ Daughter of Allison.
