Hi, my mom, Alina Gomez, was a vet nurse until a myriad of issues began in February 2023, when they found a tumor in her brain, and now she is currently at her rock bottom. She has two brain tumors (which we don't know are malignant or not as if they went in, she would go blind), with non-stop seizures, tremors, calcification in her right frontal lobe, hemorrhages, dysphasia, aphasia, gait instability, vertigo, word-finding difficulty, memory loss, hypoglycemia, COPD, cognitive attention deficit, elevated liver enzymes, metabolic acidosis, epilepsy (focal and grand mal seizures), blurred vision, and migraines. She is no longer herself anymore.
She wants to be that vet nurse again and be that mom again, back to who she used to be, but can't keep jobs or her life together because of her tremors. She's losing everything, and with no job or insurance, she cannot pay for her medications, her two kids, her animals, or her apartment, which is made even harder as my father doesn't pay child support, and when he does, it's barely enough for groceries.
We are now going to lose our apartment and our livelihood, and without my mother's medications, she could die in her sleep and cannot work. Currently, she has a court order in which she needs to challenge our eviction with the deposit requiring over five hundred dollars; however, she will still need to pay the remaining rent, which is going to cost 5000 dollars or more. She's worked very hard to get where she is now, but with no jobs hiring her, work becoming extremely difficult to handle with her issues, the tumors growing and progressively getting worse, and an inability to get medical help, we've run almost entirely out of options.
She's done so much for our community working in Lawnwood as an anesthesia tech since 2014 and later becoming a lead tech, helping people and saving lives even through the coronavirus. Later becoming a vet tech and later a vet nurse in the veterinary field, saving and helping countless beloved pets. She's an amazing mother to me and my sister, and every day I see her rot away even more and get crushed under the weight life has put her under. She's overcome so many hurdles and difficulties in her life, but this is not something she can do on her own; we need your help.
We are fundraising to help my mom, Alina Gomez, pay for her medications, support her two kids, and cover the rent to prevent eviction.
